Set of five explosion-proof industrial lamps for mercury-vapour bulbs, manufactured in East Germany by EOW and fitted with ballast units. The ballast is housed in a capsule-shaped enclosure on top of each lamp, creating a distinctive sculptural design element. Their cast-aluminium bodies are completed by thick borosilicate glass globes and steel protective cages; such lamps were used in chemical plants, power stations, military and civil-defence facilities and bunkers.
